With a focus on core strength, posture and mobility, Pilates develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores vitality, invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit. In short, it is complete co-ordination of body, mind and spirit. Using a series of controlled movements, the programme is designed to improve flexibility, build strength, and develop control and endurance in the entire body. Join me for a friendly, relaxed session with a personal touch and attention to detail. It is very important to me that clients feel welcomed, supported and challenged to a level that is right for them. Whether you are a complete beginner or have experience in Pilates, I would love to be part of your journey.

Fundamental Pilates class

Learn the principles of Pilates in this fundamental class, learning correct breathing techniques and how to find the neutral alignment of your spine and pelvis. Working at your own pace you will get to know your body and find your core.

By laying the foundations we will develop whole body strength, flexibility and improve posture and balance. Perfect for those new to Pilates or those who have begun their Pilates journey and are looking to improve their technique.

Great for your general fitness, wellbeing and the perfect compliment to all other exercise programmes.

Improvers/ Adavnced Pilates class

Continue to improve your technique in this intermediate/advanced class.

After working through the fundamental class programme, we will now begin to add in some of the more intermediate to advanced Pilates exercises.

All exercises can be adapted so are accessible and achievable yet can be also challenging to the fittest of bodies.

Gain a deeper understanding of the core muscles and their role in protecting and stabilising the spine, continue to improve strength and flexibility and develop strength and endurance in the entire body.

Women's Health Programmes...

Prenatal & Postnatal

The Pilates technique is ideal during pregnancy because it is delicate and effective. It centres on stabilisation of the vertebral column and strengthening the postural muscles, with a firm focus on the core and pelvic floor. Because the exercises increase the abdominal surface and lengthen the spine, this in turn will create more space for your growing baby.

Older Adults

Pilates exercises are beneficial to the older adult because they help develop body awareness and improve balance. The exercises are both mindful and physical, helping to maintain ease of movement and allowing for continued independence. The effects of ageing on muscle tissue begins as early as age 30, when we begin to undergo a progressive loss of skeletal muscle mass. This also results in a decrease in muscle strength and in diminished muscle reflexes.

Menopause

A programme designed around mind & body practice to strengthen, tone, mobilise, relax and de-stress you.
Why are these components so important to women at this time? As our hormones and adrenal glands change, our bodies respond in various ways. We can lose muscle tone, suffer sleep disturbances affecting our waking hours, gain weight, experience hot flashes and mood changes, to name only a few of the most common issues. You may already be experiencing some of these. Remaining both physically and mentally healthy during this stage of life is a balancing act in which a well-developed Pilates programme can play a part.

I started with Nicola in January in an attempt to find something to help the pain caused by a car accident. After a consultation to ensure she understood my issues and aims I have had a bespoke, hour long 1-2-1 session every week since. When lockdown hit, she moved it online so I could continue without losing the progress I'd started to make and it was a great chance to think about nothing Pilates for an hour in the midst of the Covid difficulties. I signed up for one to one Zoom classes every Monday 9am with N-Core after a couple of weeks of lockdown, realising all my days were all blending in to one. Nicola has provided an amazing bespoke in person class via video each week, which with my permission was recorded and then forwarded to me. The difference in my core strength, general wellbeing, inner strength both mentally and physically is fabulous. Also Nicola said what would you like to achieve? Through my tears of despair of feeling so naff and also laughter I said, I would like to be able to see my toes past my belly when lying on my side. I CAN NOW!!

Nicola's Pilates classes have helped me get much fitter and more agile once again. As recovering from an ear problem and a sprained ankle, I've just taken it slowly doing as much as I felt my body could manage, with Nicola giving us different levels for the exercises I could remain safe within my body limits and gain strength gently, improving each week. You feel great afterwards even if your muscles know they been exercised! And I can do every day movements much easier now! Nicola's class is a lovely, friendly class. A highlight of my week! Nicola is a really thorough teacher, explaining carefully as well as demonstrating the exercises. The age range in the class is quite wide and there are always options to take the gentler option or challenge yourself. Some of the exercises are really challenging and it is good to feel yourself improving slowly getting stronger and more confident. Over the year I have been doing the class I have noticed how the exercises help develop strength and balance and you notice the benefits in every day activities, bending, stretching and lifting for example.
